Red Bull’s Max Verstappen followed up his Sprint race win by storming to pole position during qualifying for the Chinese Grand Prix, getting the better of team mate Sergio Perez and Aston Martin rival Fernando Alonso in the final shootout.

Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz suffered a dramatic crash during Saturday afternoon’s qualifying session at the Shanghai International Circuit, bringing out the red flags in the process.
